The Otarida has become my new daily carry. It replaces my Benchmade Bugout, and for good reason. It's sleek, fits perfectly in my hands, the jimping on the top of the blade is a perfect place to rest my thumb while cutting open boxes at work or cutting rope when I'm at a scene for the local Fire Department I volunteer for. The choil on the base of the blade is really well thought out, and allows you to choke up on the knife by placing your index finger there. It provides a bit more control over the blade, especially when you're doing anything that involves really small movements.
The blade is SHARP. I mean razor sharp out of the box. It could split a hair. The m390 steel holds an edge for a very long time, and I really appreciate that in a daily carry.
Overall, I'd recommend it to a friend. Heck, I did 2 weeks ago and they picked one up and love it too!!
I absolutely love my Otarida!! The M390 blade paired with the milled scales are perfection!! I lightning anodized mine so the scales are gorgeous now. You guy really knocked it out of the park with this one. Highly recommend!!
The action and quality are outstanding. Super smooth and fits perfectly in the hand. The blade comes super sharp and makes short work of everything I’ve had to use it on. This is my first Penrose and couldn’t be happier. Will definitely be looking forward to future products!

I really liked it for the price I paid. The action was very smooth and pleasurable to use. As to the handle shape I would have preferred a little more bulk in the bottom of the handle as I thought the taper was a little too much for perfect ergonomics. Love back flipper deployment.
To start - the knife is beautiful. The handle and blade shape are perfect, size is spot on, the quality of the milling makes this feel like a $500+ knife. However, one major flaw sets it back. As others have mentioned, the tension on the lock bar when holding, along with a strong detent, make the knife impossible to open normally with your thumb with a normal grip. I find it’s very annoying to pull it out of your pocket to use and have to reorient it to open or reverse flick it. I use my knives daily and enjoy fidgeting with them, so it’s very disappointing that you can’t just open it normally. If they adjust that issue and keep price the same, it’s a 5/5 knife all day.

Absolutely beautiful knife! Love the milling on the scales and pivot, love the tapered spine and choil combining to make it fit perfectly in my hand, love the reverse flick opening method, love the look and tension of the pocket clip. I also love the blade and its grind, just an all-around amazingly designed knife.

The Penrose Otarida Flipper Delete is a terrific piece. There is such attention to detail and the reverse flicking action is buttery smooth. The Otarida is in my pocket quite often. The only thing that keeps it from being “great” by my standards is the difficulty deploying the blade using the show side opening thumb hole because of the unavoidable tension on the lock bar. The blade can be easily rolled out though.
A little smaller than I was hoping. Grip is pretty tight for my hand.

The knife is fine for a Kubey OEM. I was a little upset on how it was shipped.
It was sent in a bubble package envelope and was opened when i got it only an adhesive kept it from falling out. They should at least use a box to ship a $200 knife

The knife should normally ship in a branded, white box with foam padding and a micro fibre cloth. I'm not sure what happened with your order but will look into it.

i am impressed...ordered 1/20/26, received 1/28/26-wish i could pay for faster delivery.....it is now my 2nd favorite knife after i ramped the blade steel for the ball to ride up for opening and widened the detent hole slightly....added a little KPL heavy to the bearings-smooth......i would be honored to test any new productions and to be notified when they drop for sale

Great quality, design, and build
Detent is a little sticky on mine whuch makes it nearly impossible to reverse or front flick it. Other than that its a great knife.
